Have you noticed how the aging process affects more than just your body, that it also takes its toll on your teeth? Years of lost fillings, root canals, grinding your teeth, all result in teeth that are not structurally sound. If your root system is healthy, but the surface of your tooth is the problem, a crown may be a good choice for sprucing up that smile.

There are many different types of crowns of various grades and materials. We only use the highest quality materials that include; CEREC all ceramic, CEREC IPS e.max ZirCAD (zirconium oxide). We focus on CEREC crowns since they can be done in one visit, are extremely durable, contain no metal, and look the most natural. Read on...

Most dental restorative methods require more than one visit to the dentist. This means on the first visit, you get an injection of anesthesia, your tooth prepared, an impression taken, and a temporary restoration put on your tooth. You make a second appointment for 2 to 3 weeks later and have a permanent restoration put on. With CEREC, a second appointment isn't necessary! The procedure is done in a single appointment, start to finish! NO MORE TEMPORARIES!
Finest Dental Materials
A CEREC tooth restoration isn't just convenient, it is also healthy. Many years ago, dentists had few options to repair decayed and damaged teeth other than amalgam, gold, and other metals. With CEREC, Dr. Prouty can use strong, tooth colored ceramic materials to restore your teeth to their natural strength, beauty, and function. These materials closely match the composition of natural tooth structure. This means when you eat hot food and then drink something cold, the restoration and tooth expand and contract at almost equal rates. So, your tooth does not crack, and you can go on enjoying your evening. Also, the materials are chemically bonded to your tooth (as oppose to cementing) so Dr. Prouty can save as much healthy tooth tissue as possible while providing you with a dental restoration that strengthens your tooth.

Dr. Prouty will be happy to discuss the merits of crowns and how they may benefit your oral health at your next appointment. Please call us today!
